My Soap Box

So I don't normally "follow" politics. I know it's bad, and might sound terrible to certain people I know, but I really get bored with them. I feel politicians try to just throw around words to confuse us as to what they really intend to do and feel no guilt in lying just to get a few votes. It's exhausting and sometimes depressing. That being said, I do care about a few choice topics and will follow them pretty closely. Since I happen to know the Supreme Court is hearing cases for and against Gay Marriage then I felt the need to speak up about it.

If you couldn't tell by the picture above, I completely, 100%, fully support Gay Marriage. I'm not gay, let me make that clear, but I do think hindering any person to marry is a completely rude, immature, and disrespectful thing to do! I've felt very passionately about this topic, so much so that I really look down on people that try and stop gay people from being happy and just living their life. I want people to know it's not bad to be open minded, it's not bad to accept someone for making a different choice (that DOESN'T hurt anyone, I'd like to make clear!). People often make their jokes about why I'm so serious about it and it's simple: I was raised right. Meaning my family taught me that it does no good to dislike someone for that sort of choice. I mean if we are going to hate on gay people, why not hate on fat people? Or ugly people? Or people with genetic abnormalities? I mean why not? They don't always have a choice in that stuff, and it's completely different! I'd also like to point out that I've yet to hear a good argument against gay marriage...just saying!

I understand if certain people just think it's gross, or not something they would want to do, but don't stand in the way of other people having their own slice of happiness. There was a time when black people weren't allowed to even read or interracial marriages were completely out of the question. We've evolved past that backwards thinking and I think it's time we do the same here. I really hope if you're reading this you agree! And please put positive thought vibes out there right now, we don't need anymore negativity in this world.

That's all I have to say so I'm stepping off now. Thanks for reading this far if you did :)

Wedding Checklist

So according to The Knot we've completed more things than what's left for the wedding (you can't really see it, but it says we've completed 104 items with only 75 left to do)! That means we are REALLY past the half way point-YAY!! By the way, I don't know why they think there are 91 days left when really there are 90, but whatever.

Today we crossed a TON off the list. We had our consultation with Millennial Falls to pick all our ceremony/reception stuff out. Within just two hours we crossed off:
  • Linens
  • Food
  • Invitations
  • Cake (flavor, tiers, and design)
  • Glass flutes
  • Cake knife and server set
  • Centerpieces
  • Napkins
  • Flowers
  • The send off
  • Timing
  • And a couple more things that I'm probably forgetting right now
Now that I see so much of it pulled together I'm REALLY excited. Part of me worries what if it doesn't look as good all put together as I'd like, but I'm pretty sure it will. We still have to match it all up with a few more other things, but we are super close now and it gets more and more exciting as time goes on. I can't wait till it's here and we get to celebrate :)

I just have to email some pictures to them to put with the invitations, then they'll send me a proof and once I give it the okay then we order them and get to send them out, if I'm understanding the timing right they should be in the mail before the 2 month mark!

That's all I really had for today, hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Accountability Pants

Ac-count-abil-i-ty: The quality or state of being accountable (according to Webster's Dictionary online)
Pants: Well if you don't know what pants are then I'm sorry.

Yes, it seems all my March posts are going to be really random.

So what are accountability pants? They are a pair of my pants-that are a size I can actually wear, but I will not be posting what size because...well I'm a female and that's just what we do-that have a button which will randomly pop off. So I wear these pants on desperate days to help me make sure I don't gorge on food so that the button doesn't pop off in the middle of the day. Because that would be worse than disclosing said size right?

It may not be the most genius diet plan, but you do what you have to. Why?

Well I got home yesterday and mentioned to Larry that I caved and got a chicken sandwich for lunch that day and his response:

"93 days till the wedding...just saying!"

Yup...that's exactly what I need to hear (this sentence is NOT sarcastic by the way. Sometimes I need a kick in the bum to remember why I'm not eating out everyday-besides the money waste factor). Good thing I love him to pieces. He's really good at motivating me!

We are almost down to three months now-we go pick ALL our reception stuff and go over timing on Saturday so we'll be that much closer to being done. YAY!!

Oh my...

So ever since I saw movies like Father of the Bride, The Holiday, and It's Complicated (I recommend seeing ALL of those by the way) I always knew I wanted a Nancy Meyer house! Nancy Meyer is a film writer and director (she's also done Somethings Gotta Give among others) with amazing homes in her movies! Homes that seem loving and welcoming and warm! I've always loved imagining having a place just like the homes in her movies and wanted to find a way to build one or have one decorated just like them. One recent random day surfing the internet I somehow stumbled upon this site:

It's got a tab on the top: TV/Movie houses, which includes a lot of Nancy Meyers house plans in it. I love it! I love that it has a ton of ideas on decorating and floor plans. I'm so happy I found it-I think I spent like 3 hours randomly looking around when I first found it. If you're also interested in building your dream house from what you've seen on TV or in magazines...Check the site out! It's got a lot of fun schemes on it.

Just thought I'd share my new awesome find on the Internet! The Internet is such an amazing thing don't you think?

Oh and we are down to under 100 days till the wedding now! Think I'm ready for it? NOT AT ALL! Haha
