Thing(s) I Want To Say To An Ex

Wow...this one isn't a fun one at all for me. Not because I have a bad ex or anything, I just don't really talk with him or anything anymore (despite our many conversations saying we'd remain friends...pssht!). I guess the only thing I could say is I think he still sucks for not taking me to see Spider Man, but I don't really give our past relationship a lot of thought. Oh I guess I'd also say he was way wrong about Larry (I believe his word to be were "you shouldn't date that Bradsby boy, he's no good" HA!) and I'm glad he was (or that I didn't listen) because I got me a good one.

I am grateful to have a past relationship and how much it showed me in life, but honestly it's behind me and there's nothing I would go back and change about it really. We dated for about a year and a half and then one summer he broke it off and while it was hard at the time, it was definitely the right time to end things. I met Larry 2 months later, we started dating the following month and have been together ever since. Things work out in funny ways sometimes.

Sorry this one was kind of lame, but this blog isn't about past relationships, it's about my current one and I don't see the need to dwell or ramble on about the past with it. So until next time...

Bullet My Whole Day

So since it's a Wednesday this one probably won't be too exciting, but I doubt any others would be crazy either so here goes:

My Day Today
  • Woke up at 7 to a mixture of my alarm and my cats cuddling/pushing on me for food. Immediately go to the bathroom and fill the food dish to avoid future consequence from them.
  • From 7 to 8 I watched Dexter on my laptop while Larry started his workday and I got ready for mine.
  • 8-8:30 driving to work
  • 8:30-5 a mixture of work, partying, a little gossip, and trying to make a dr. apt (turns out it's MUCH harder than I thought when switching to a new doctor...ugh!)
  • 5-5:30 driving home, listening to music, talking to myself a bit...the usual.
  • 5:30 Arrive home, pet kitties, greet Larry, bathroom stop (like clockwork)
  • 5:30-6:30 Larry and I talk about our days, re-heat leftovers for dinner, watch Larry do dishes, and then watch our show while we eat (on the floof in the living room, never on a table really).
  • 6:30-6:40 look up how to cancel our cable (we're switching to Dish on Friday) and establish that I should wait till tomorrow since I have shows recording on the DVR tonight.
  • 6:40-7 Look up other doctors to call tomorrow to try and make an apt. Have to call my mom to find out what some of the verbage means on them and we talk for a few minutes. Finally I find one I really like and am hopeful I can get into (fingers are SUPER crossed right now).
  • 7 to 7:20 Enter in data into My Fitness Pal App for dinner to see how many calories I've consumed. I'm  happy to see the app say I've eaten too few so I go grab a chocolate Chewy bar from the pantry to add.
  • 7:20 to 7:30 Start this blog post while also randomly surfing the web...I guess I could go read.
  • 7:30 to 8:30 read my book while Oscar and Minnie cuddled with me (our nightly ritual)
  • 8:30 to 9 went on a bike ride while Larry ran. We did three laps around our neighborhood. I love these nights :)
  • 9 to now, surfing the internet again, and finishing this post. Now it's time to get ready for bed (or watch Dexter for a little bit and then get ready for bed).

I know, I live such an exciting life. It was a good day today, but nothing exciting usually happens. Usually while I'm on my computer Larry's is playing games so at least we're kind of spending time together.

Until next time...

A Book I Love

Wow...this one is kind of a hard one for me. Not because I don't have a book I love, there are tons of books I love for all different reasons. If I had to choose one, though, I would probably choose...

I know, I know, another sappy love story. Nicholas sparks = chick book/flick. But this one is much different than his other stories. Every time I read one of his books Larry rolls his eyes and usually says something like "I know what it will be about: girl loves boy, boy loves girl, something bad happens, someone dies, everyone cries, the end." While that isn't far from the truth with his books, that's not the case with this one. This is a wonderfully romantic story about AFTER marriage and being together for a long time. It's about a couple who have been married for thirty years and their marriage hits a bump in the road from basically becoming used to each other. The wife is the daughter of Noah and Allie (from The Notebook) so the husband kind of has a lot to live up to in terms of making things right with them. I won't give away anything, but it's more than worth a read! Go get it today and sit down immediately...I don't think you will regret it.

That's my book that I choose for this one, it was a tough one to choose among all my books that I have, but it's definitely top of my list.

Till next time...

Something I Feel Strongly About

So since I already mentioned my love of animals in the last post this time I'll do my next big thing I feel strongly about: Gay Rights.

I'm not exactly sure why this one is a big one for me, except that I think it's pretty crappy to discriminate a group of people just because you don't agree with their lifestyle. If it's not hurting anyone (and make any BS argument you want about if this is hurting anyone, it's completely untrue) then just let them be! I've had gay friends growing up and seeing how hard it was for them to just be themselves, even with just their parents, broke my heart. Not that I feel it's important, but just so everyone knows I am (obviously) not gay, haven't been gay, nothing like that. But I think I can understand how hard it is to feel different and be so afraid to tell certain people in your life (announcing our atheism was probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, for me at least).

This is one of my hot button issues, if you don't agree with this then don't tell me about it because I will straight up knock you on your ass with facts that go against you and I will not feel bad about it either. There are a few things I will stand up and fight with/against and this is one of my biggest ones. There has only been on person in my life that didn't agree with it and when it came up I just told them to stop talking because I'm sure what I have to say is enough to lose some people in my life with and I didn't want that to be an issue with this person. But that's the only time I would probably give a person a chance to stop because I feel so passionately about this and I don't think it would ever change.

So if you come across me and you agree we can talk about it just fine. But if you disagree, just don't let it become a topic of discussion. That is all :)

Till next time...

Five Ways To Win My Heart

So the first one on the 30 day challenge is:

FIVE WAYS TO WIN MY HEART

  1. Be funny! I can't stand if people are too stuck up or boring to be able to laugh at themselves (or me!). I will flat out make myself the group jester if it means everyone will laugh. If I tell a joke and don't get a laugh it will bring me down a bit, I'll admit. I think if you can laugh and make jokes and everything you are 10X more interesting to me. But note: no one is funnier for me than my husband so don't even try :)
  2. Don't be too afraid to try new things. I am always willing to try something once. My mom always said "try it once, if you don't like it you don't ever have to do it again" and I think that's a good way to look at things. If it wasn't for such awesome advise as that I wouldn't love roller coasters or be as adventurous as I am today (say what you will about my love of spreadsheets, I love adventures too!).
  3. Love animals. I'm sure anyone who knows me knows this is the first, most important thing to me. I'm an animal freak! Don't tell me about a time an animal was lost, killed, hurt, or scared, I don't take those stories too lightly. I will literally cover my eyes and ears if it comes up on a movie (and one time on a cartoon...seriously). I am one of those freaks that can watch movies/shows like Saw, but if you show me your hunting "trophies" I will avoid you.
  4. Bring me candy! I've got such a freaking sweet tooth it's insane. I will eat pretty much any candy there is out there. And I ALWAYS overdo it with it, but I just can't stop...I'll take the cavities, I don't care. That being said, now that I'm watching my calories (just to help me lose extra lbs. I've had for a while) I've had to cut down and it hasn't even been slightly easy, but I'm doing it.
  5. Don't tell me how to bowl better. Oh man, this is a big one. I'm a terrible bowler, just awful. I think my highest score was 80 one time, but I absolutely love going bowling. Maybe not EVERY weekend, but I could probably do once a month. If I'm going, it's to have fun, it is NOT to become a professional. I can't tell you how much it kills the fun when I bowl and realize it's a gutter ball and when I turn around someone is right there to tell me what I could've done better. I will NEVER bowl with you again if you do that.
So that's how you do it, but again, my heart really belongs to my husband so this is a good way just to become a good friend of mine (assuming you can get past my awkwardness...sorry).

Till next time...

30 Day Challenge

This pin was sent to me by my mom, I'm not sure if it's her way of saying my blog is boring or if it was just a fun share....either way I'm doing it (every once in a while I like these things...keeps things...I want to say fresh...?). So here goes...

Summer Happenings...So far

This summer has been a fun one already. Granted, yes, we are a month and a half into it, but still. So aside from the Air Show at Hill Air Force Base and July 4th at Skyler and Jena's we've:

  • Gotten our very own bikes! I'm so excited about it. Ever since we moved down here I've noticed that it seems like everyone bikes everywhere. I see them in our neighborhood, on my drives to work, and even down Pioneer Crossing (where they have a little bike path off the road). I would constantly tell Larry that I would love to have a bike and go riding. I hadn't been in so long. Well he is such a good listener that he got us some this past weekend :) I love mine:

I haven't named it yet, but I love it! So cute and sporty :)

  • We got to celebrate Baby Will's first birthday! Can you believe he is one already? It's insane! He's such a cute little boy. He was so shy when we first saw him, but he seemed to warm up pretty quickly. Shawn and Amber held the party at a little park by their house so we got to put him on the swing and be outside (in the shade, of course) with the fresh air. It was a pretty good day for the party and he got lots of nice gifts! I got the best picture of the cake part:
I'm sorry, but you can't say that isn't
The cutest picture EVER!
  • Since Larry got his bike later (as in, just barely this week and he hasn't gotten the tire pump yet) I went and rode mine around the neighborhood while he ran last night. We decided this might be one of our new nightly things to do while it's warm outside. It was nice because running outside has just become a no-go for me lately (it just kills my lungs and it's getting too hot for me outside to run out there) but it makes it so we can still do something together outside.
  • When we went to the birthday party we saw the people floating tubes down the Provo River and people who went up to Bridal Veil Falls and I'd really like to squeeze that in. There's a bunch of things I'd love to get done this summer, but we'll see when and if we do them. I have to say there's been a bit of a change in my attitude lately and I really don't want to plan things anymore. I bunch of people have told me to "just live in the moment" and that's not something I've ever really done. I've always been a planner, wanting to know where the next 5 years of my life might be at. all. times! I actually used the phrase tonight "you can't stick to plans because you can't control everything so you might as well just go with the flow!" Larry even said he was surprised and it sounded weird coming from me. I'm not sure why I've been so much more laid back lately, but it's kind of nice. I'm not really sure other people have noticed this change yet, but I swear it's there!
So that's been all. Not too much, but it had been a little while since I posted so I thought I should post something. It's been fun so far, Larry's got a big weekend coming up that I can't wait to post about, but I'll wait till after so I have pictures (hopefully). Hope everyone else is having a fun summer!!

Fireworks Videos

Fourth of July

Independence day this year was pretty incredible! I've never gotten why this holiday could be anyone's favorite before this year. Sure I love the summer, but as far as holiday's go give me Halloween through Christmas/New Years any day. This year, however, I may have to change my views a little.

Larry decided he wanted to go to Wyoming for fireworks this year. Originally I wondered why he would want to since aerials aren't illegal in Utah anymore so why drive all the way there for the same stuff we can get here? It was really worth it though! They had some amazing, huge stores over there, stuff seemed a bit cheaper, AND they had videos of everything they sold so you could see what you were buying. We spent a couple hours picking fireworks out and getting lunch real quick while we were there.

The big package we bought
"The Big Ego"

After that we went home, took a quick nap, showered, and got ready to head over to Skyler and Jena's. It's become our new tradition to eat dinner and then, once it gets dark, light off some fireworks over there. They made some pretty delicious food with some cheesecake and the best root beer you've ever tasted. After dinner we just sat around and talked, listened to music, and had a tea party with Cailyn (that last part might have just been me) while waiting for the sun to set.

I don't think I could've been more excited for our fireworks this year. We started with bottle rockets..some of those may have ended up in the neighbors lawns, some may have just blown up right in front of us, but a majority went up and exploded (once the guys learned how deep to put them in the grass). Cailyn loved helping them light a bunch of them and then running away to cover her ears. Once we started with the real fireworks the neighbors seemed to love us (despite the fact that we may or may not have started a fire at one house...I promise it was put out before it caused any real harm!). Cailyn loved handing over new ones to the boys to light off, though I think she got bored with that because after a while she kept bringing them to Jena and me saying "happy birthday!" haha. Our finale was beyond remarkable! I'll have to post the couple of videos we took of them, they were pretty cool. After we finished one of the neighbors actually came over and said she loved them so much and that she thought they were just as good, if not better, than the ones the park puts on. She also said she realized we spent a lot of money on all of them and she loved that her and her kids got a great show from their own house. It was pretty cool hearing that and all the cheers. I definitely think we'll be doing a repeat next year, but with different fireworks. It definitely helped this holiday climb my must-celebrate holidays list haha.

Just some photos from the Holiday.
You can see one of our fireworks was as tall as Cailyn!

Unfortunately, we were supposed to follow that awesome day with a camping trip this weekend, but I got my reservations wrong and we'll be going later in the summer. This opened up the weekend, so we just had a relaxing weekend again. We used some of our camping gear so we knew what we were doing, so hopefully when we go now it will be much better.

Happy Holidays/Summer everyone!!

Summer Plans 2014

So I've decided I'm going to try not to let a weekend get by too often where we don't do something fun! I feel like Summer's in the past just whiz by and I realize I didn't take advantage of the warm weather enough. So for at least the next two months I'm hoping to cross off the following:

  • Camping at Jordanelle. I've got the reservations booked, we just need to check our tent and blow up mattress. I think I'm most excited for this since it will be our first time camping just us and I got us a spot right on the lake so we can skip rocks or go swimming or whatever we want.
  • Larry and Skyler will be doing King's Peak, it's definitely been planned out so that should be exciting. While they are doing that Jena and I will probably be doing a girl's day just us and Cailyn :)
  • Hogle Zoo has become a weird Summer tradition I guess. They have the new exhibit so I can't wait to see that and the animals!  I don't know why I love zoos so much, but it's just a must-do each year. Plus we can go to Ruth's Diner again (the best part about a zoo visit).
  • We decided once we get our bikes we'd like to go on a ride up Pony Express. We haven't been any more West than where we are now so it'd be nice to see what they have down there (we always get emails about stuff that's going on down there). I'm hoping it'll get us more used to this area (not that we aren't used to it, but something to help us see what else is around us).

  • We also have the 4th of July coming up, Larry wants to take a road trip up to Wyoming to get some fireworks. We'll be doing dinner and those at Skyler and Jena's, like we have been doing the last couple years. I just want to sleep in till forever that day :)
  • We have a few birthdays coming up: Larry's is today (he's in class right now), Baby Wills is in a couple weeks, a chunk of my siblings were all really recently or coming up so there's those celebrations.
  • We're talking about doing a few weekend road trips sometime, we'll see when and where we do those, nothing is set in the works.
  • I definitely want to get more hikes in before it gets too cold. We'll see how Larry feels after Kings Peak.
And that's about it, so far. I wanted to do Lagoon, but seeing ticket prices and knowing they don't really have anything new there it's kind of on the back burner. Maybe next summer (I still have to do the Catapult!). For now, I'm just excited to start filling up the calendar :)

Happy Summer Everyone!
