We had a two hour layover in Atlanta, where I learned even little airport store cashiers will try and sell you anything! I think I'm going to try and avoid that airport/city/state at all costs from now on-I'm not a big fan. But it was worth it, a little, once we landed in Florida with it's sunshine and cool breezes...Ah! I don't think it could've looked any prettier-that could be due to the fact that it was snowing in Utah when we left, but I won't split those hairs.
We decided our new tradition must be to travel overnight, then once we check into our hotel Larry falls asleep, it's odd, but it's what always ends up happening to us. I stayed up to clean and organize our bags a little while watching movies on the hotel T.V. I decided since we had so much time to kill (and we'd eaten greasy pizza for our lunch/dinner) that we could take a walk once Larry woke up. So we started out in a general direction, not knowing what to look for, but we ended up finding out the beach was real close so we thought it would be fun to head over there and see the ocean up close. We got to a suspiscious looking neighborhood we had to cross through, but found out the people in it were actually pretty funny/nice (you can't help but laugh when you see some guy in swim trunks and a hoodie yell from his roof "Hey you guys! Want to come in for some free jaeger bombs?" who also took rejection pretty nicely and made us laugh some more). We made our way to a marina of sorts, right as the sun was setting, so we took a couple pictures, stood there admiring the beauty for a minute and headed back. We found out towards the end it was about a 4.5-5 mile walk (round trip) and it felt so good to be in the warm sun, cool breezes, and fresh air. I would've done it all over again if we had stayed here longer, but we left for our cruise the next morning.
All in all it was a very successful first day! Some pictures from this day:
