Oh I'm so excited to finally have this post to put on the blog! I was crying the whole time it happened because I couldn't believe it was real and finally happening, I had had so many dreams about it happening but either with a horrible ring (you don't think that matters until you see the worse imaginable concoctions in your dreams!) or a proposal that consists of throwing the ring at me and him saying "well there you go, you happy now?" Luckily he did SO much better than those!
Here's how my day went: It was Tuesday (the 22nd) and Larry had to get his new military ID that day and so he left early while I stayed home and got ready. Well about an hour later he ended up texting me to tell me he was on his way back and that it didn't take as long as he thought. He ended up getting home about 2 minutes before I had to leave for work and at first I wondered why he didn't just go to work to get the overtime he loves, but then realized he also loves having a day off now and then to just play video games or do whatever he wants during the day so I just left it alone. While I was at work I was telling him I wanted to leave because it was so sunny and nice outside, he responded with something about if I wanted to be home to relax with him and the kitties, and for some reason this sounded weird because I don't usually just relax when I get home, I actually had a lot of cleaning to do for my Damsel in Defense party I was hosting on Saturday so I just brushed it off and didn't think anything of it except that it sounded weird. Well later I ended up finishing work early and had some overtime so I talked to my boss about leaving early to make up for the overtime so she said I could, since I got to leave 2 hours early that day I immediately text Larry and let him know I would be home soon! I got a message back saying something like "nice, see you soon. I love you!" This kind of seemed weird because Larry and I don't say I love you a whole lot - we usually only like to say it when we feel it and not just make it an automatic message to things. There are times when we do randomly say it, this one just felt different for some reason, but again I was just thinking he was in a good mood so I didn't think too much into it.
Well when I got home I checked the mail and so I had my purse, my water bottle, phone, keys, lunch box, the mail, and a sweater I left at work all in my hands/arms. I needed a tissue when I walked in but went for a paper towel instead. I grabbed one off the counter but since my hands were full I accidentally dropped it on the floor. That's when I noticed the shower curtain we keep at the top of the stairs for privacy was closed. It usually isn't closed so I thought that was weird, but every once in a great while he will have it closed so I figured it was one of those days, but the corner near the bottom was flipped up and as I picked up the paper towel I noticed a weird light on the stairs so by now I was starting to get a little suspicious, but tried not to get myself all hyped up for nothing (Larry has been famous lately for randomly surprising me with dinners or sweet surprises, which I start to wonder if they were the proposal and when they weren't I'd get a little sad, so I was thinking this was one of them). I opened the curtain and saw candles lining the stairs downstairs and a little pathway to the dining table he moved into the middle of the room:
He asked me to make all the promises (which I did) and then read the other part, if you can't read it it says:
I want to tell you I'm sorry for making you wait this long and I'm sorry for all the times you felt like you were the reason I was waiting. That wasn't it at all.
I've been thinking for a while now about why I haven't proposed yet and after a long time, I think I found out why. I think it is because in a lot of the video games, movies, and books that I've seen in my life, when the characters in these stories fall in love and eventually get married soon after the story/game/movie ends.
I kept thinking to myself...that I'm not ready for our story to end...I don't ever want it to end...
But I see now that I shouldn't be afraid and I should be willing to risk it all and make our story great.
This isn't the end of our story, it is the beginning of a brand new adventure for us, and I'm ready now.
So on this day of our 7 7 7, I have one question for you...
That's when he got down on his knee and proposed. Before this happened he kept telling me that I had to be patient because he picked a day that will never happen again, it's a one time thing, that's the 7 7 7 he put in the card-it was our 7 year, 7 month, 7 day anniversary. During this whole proposal both of us were tearing up, but probably me most! I kept asking if this was really happening and saying how I was happy I probably wouldn't have my dreams anymore. It was so romantic and special and private that I loved all of it. It was EXACTLY what I wanted for my proposal. He made me feel special and loved. This past week has been such a whirlwind with telling family and friends and getting used to having a new gorgeous ring on my finger, but now that everyone we know knows I can finally put this up here :)
