Superbowl 60

Today was a great, fun day. I wish one of the teams we liked was in the game, but I still look forward to the Superbowl. This year, when we found out which teams were going to play I kept making comments about how the Patriots were going down and Larry was so used to me cheering on a team (or voting for one team) and then they lose so he wanted to make another football bet, this time the loser has to pay for the winner to get a spa treatment. I was pretty confident in this one so I took it happily.

This year, for food, we did Olive Garden catering (pasta, salad, breadsticks, raspberry lemonade, and a chocolate mousse cake). It got delivered a little earlier than I expected and since everyone wasn't planning on coming until around 3, I didn't want to have half eaten food for them so we had to keep it in the containers (luckily they gave us burners to keep it warmed up once we were ready to put it out). Next time I'll just put snacks out during the day and put the real/planned food out an hour or so before the game starts. I was so excited because Mom, Will, Andy, and Rachel were all coming over.

In the morning, we put on the Puppy Bowl (which is so adorable!). It felt weird because I felt like I needed to do something, but all the cleaning and laundry had been done the days before so there wasn't really anything to do. We did snack on some chips throughout the early part of the day. Around 2, we finally lit the burners and got the food set up and then at 3 we started eating and at 4 everyone showed up and they got to eat.

Unfortunately, the game ended up being quite a snoozer. I kind of expected more from the Seahawks, but I guess the Patriot's boringness spread to this game (we didn't see all their Playoff games, but we watched the last 2 and they were pretty boring too). The halftime show was also unexciting, in my opinion. I know people liked it, but I felt he was trying to make a political statement and I just want to watch Football, not have politics be a part of it.. I did ask Larry at that point (the score was 9 - 0 in favor of the Seahawks) if he regretted wanting to bet, but he just said "the game ain't over till it's over!"

We did let the kids watch a movie upstairs in the bedroom with the rest of their Halloween candy, which they were excited about (they chose Elio), but they were done before halftime so during that part they were kind of over it (Cara kept saying "I wish I knew what he was singing" haha). By the time the game was done they were pretty exhausted.

I will say, I was kind of hoping it was going to be the first shut out Superbowl or the first without a touchdown, but then the 4th quarter had to get kind of interesting and that's where most of the points came from.

All in all, it was a good day. I'm excited I won our little bet and I have every intention of finding a good treatment to get! I wish the game had been better, but the food was good! Mom and Will cracked me up when they said they thought I had only ordered salad and breadsticks and joked about having a code word if they needed to leave to get real food, haha. We all loved the food (Will and Mom really liked the cake). We're definitely going to have leftovers for days, though!
