My Book List

I've really gotten into reading and decided to keep a tracker. So here are the books I've read this year and my thoughts for each:

  1. Jurassic Park (by Michael Crichton): It's a good story, MUCH different than the movie, but the writing is VERY technical. Took me way too long to read. 5/10
  2. Keep It in the Family (by John Marrs): I heard a lot about this one, I think it was hyped up a bit too much because it was a bit predictable and wasn't as exciting as I had hoped. 3/10
  3. The Girl in Cabin 13 (by A.J. Rivers): VERY predictable, figured out who "it" was by chapter 2 or 3. I think I had high hopes for it and figured it would be better because my previous one wasn't the greatest. 3/10
  4. They All Had a Reason (by Michele Leathers): This one was interesting, kept me intrigued through more of it. The ending was a bit too YA for me though. 6/10
  5. The Family Game (by Catherine Steadman): Probably one of the better ones I've read. It was decently intense, but not the greatest ever. 8/10
  6. The Inmate (by Freida McFadden): MUCH better than the previous books. I definitely went back and forth on the ending. Got me emotionally twisted up. 7/10
  7. It's a Date (Again) (by Jeneva Rose) SUCH a cute story!! Read it in little over a week. A little predictable, but in a fun way 9.5/10
  8. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (by Holly Jackson): One of the absolute best books I've read. I reacted out loud to a couple parts. It was AMAZING!! YA, but not too much for me. (10/10). I've read others by this author and, so far, she's my favorite!
  9. Better Than the Movies (by Lynn Painter): This is the absolute cutest book I've read. It's pretty YA, but, again, not too much for me. There were only a couple parts I didn't believe so I rated it a 10/10 (would've been 10.5 otherwise). Might be my new favorite non-thriller author
  10. The House Across the Lake (by Riley Sage): absolute worst one I've read this year. It was slow, awful, and I just could NOT get into it or wait to finish it. I just wanted to move on from it and get into the next book. There were a couple moments that kept me intrigued, which is why I actually finished it. 3/10 (one point for each moment that actually got me, but that wasn't enough).
  11. The Do Over (by Lynn Painter): This one was really cute! It was a "Groundhog Day" type but for Valentine's Day. It's a YA book, but the author is so good at getting me to feel what the character feels and that's my favorite kind of story. Another 10/10
  12. Thirteen (by Steve Cavanagh): This one was good, but a little too long. I love a twist to a story, but this one felt like the twist was on the cover and then it took over 400 pages to get to the end (whereas usually you get the twist and it's like 50 pages to the end). The author was VERY detailed in some parts. It still kept my attention though, so I gave it a 6/10
  13. Divorced, Desperate, and Delicious (by Christie Craig): This one is a re-read. I decided to go through my older books to read them again. It's nice because I used to wonder if owning a book is dumb because why do you need to read them again once you've read them once? But this one proved why it's good to keep them, because I forgot MOST of this story. It's a cheesy romance book (lots of NSFW scenes), but kind of silly and cute. I will still hold onto it for now so I'll say like 7/10
