One Month!

So I promise I'll keep the random new house updates to a minimum or only important things, but I feel this one is an important one! We've reached one month in the house and here's all that's new in that month:

-We got our rooms mostly cleaned out and set up. Our craft room/Christmas Tree room was kind of the catch all room when we moved in so I took a whole night to really get boxes moved to the right areas and move most of the craft stuff into the closet. That room will have my craft desk, but also be where we set up the Christmas tree (I've always called it the Christmas Tree room from the moment we picked our layout and I've ALWAYS wanted a room just like it!). The reading/game room was unpacked and books have been put onto the book shelf and games neatly put into a corner. The gym room has everything built in it (for the most part) and we have a TV with cable hooked up so I can still watch Ellen while working out :) The bedroom and living room had boxes moved out of it and into the basement until we can get things organized down there. And the office has been set up since we got Internet basically haha. It's all nice to be mostly organized and set up so we can start decorating room and making them what they should be!

Before

After

-I signed up to be part of the neighborhood bunco team. It's funny because I signed up with Jeni thinking it'd be nice to have a friend there with me since I felt I hardly knew the neighborhood ladies, but they told me they only had one spot open and gave it to me. I was really nervous and wanted to back out, but I realized I had to commit to something this time around. It will probably be fun and it's only once a month so I'm sure I'll end up loving it!

-The neighborhood had a potluck breakfast this last Saturday and it was so awesome! I actually got to meet a few of the ladies in the bunco group and catch up with them. They are all so sweet. We got there early and we met a few new neighbors so that was really cool.

-Since this weekend marked a month since the grass has been put in we decided it was finally time to start doing yard work (and by decided I mean they told us to at this point haha). We had to have the water going 4 times a day during the day, which I hated, but I see it was worth it now. We went out yesterday and bought a lawn mower, fertilizer, a spreader for the fertilizer, a gas can for the mower, salt for our water softener, filters for the furnaces and drapers for our sliding door! It was so much fun! We laid down the fertilizer yesterday while watching all the sprinkler zones go off so we knew which ones were what when we changed the schedule yesterday and today we started mowing and spraying the bug defense spray around the house. Again, so much fun! I loved every minute of it and it didn't take Larry long to mow. I got to start it up just to see if I could and it's so easy!

Overall we are just so excited about this house and can't wait till we can start making improvements to each room...or to hang the drapes already! We need a stud finder so we ordered one tonight, hopefully we'll be able to hang them by Tuesday. Yay!

Our First House Guests

So Ariel text me a couple weeks back and asked if they could stay with us overnight while they flew home to Indiana (they had a quick layover in Utah from Idaho and just needed a floor to crash on). I was beyond thrilled to have our first guests so I text her back right away saying heck yeah! Haha

They came over yesterday around 2 ish and we visited for a while and played with baby Rachel, of course. She's such a smiley little girl I love making her smile. The best was when Larry started playing with her and she was making silly faces at him.

The kitties were very unsure of new people in the house at first, but eventually Oscar warmed up and came out to check them out. He was okay with the adults, but a baby was way too new for him haha. The girls waited until it got dark out to come out and check them out. But they did end up coming out and getting playful and loving around them so that made me happy. I hope they can get used to having guests here.

We ended up eating dinner together at the dining table, which was weird because we don't usually use that, but was nice to talk about their birds and their dream house and everything. We laughed a lot. We also introduced them to texanos that night, which they loved! After that we ended up watching Speed on TV until bedtime, they hadn't seen that movie and it's a pretty silly one from forever ago.

They left before I was even up in the morning to get to the airport so we didn't get to say goodbye, but I really enjoyed having them over. They'll be coming back in 10 days to stay over again for their flight home, but they'll get in so late we probably won't really hang out or anything. But I'm so glad we've now got an inflatable bed for guests (Thanks you guys! It was so nice of you to leave that here temporarily) until we get a real bedroom setup in that room.

So our first guest visit was a success in our opinion, I hope they agreed :)

Park City and Another Ghost Tour

So I've been wanting to kind of recreate the time we went to Park City a few years back. It was such a fun day, but I heard they had new attractions there. One of them being a ropes course like what I did when I visited mom last time. They also had a bobsled ride, zip lines, and a drop zone. I decided to set the plan to go this weekend and got us our weekend activities pass they offer.

Like I said, I'm loving being out in the sun lately so going up there and being outside all day long was heaven for me....Larry could've stayed home in the a/c haha. We did learn the bobsled thing is not worth the extra money...we both were in so much pain afterwards we wanted to die a little bit. It was so hard making nice chit chat with our "pilot" afterwards (because you have to ride the shuttle with him so they can take the sled back up). But we got it over with early one so we could go enjoy the other activities

We got to do the ropes course they had (they have a harder one and an easier one, we did both), but they were NOTHING compared to the one at mom's. I told Larry he's coming with me next time I visit so he can do theirs because it is so much more fun! Ours had probably 10 challenges, but mom's has like 10 things of 5 challenges you zip line to each after finishing the last one...it's much more challenging too.

The drop zone was probably the scariest part. It reminded me of jumping the cliffs in St. George, but I did it quicker and just went with it...and I survived :)

After doing the activities we realized we had enough time to get ice cream, drive home, let Larry shower, and head to do another ghost tour! We also recreated our first picture from the last time we went...not perfect, but cute enough ;)

The ghost tour! Wow it was so much fun! We had a MUCH larger group this time, of about 18 people. Most of us met up for dinner before, but this time at Brio at City Creek since it's so much closer. It was expensive, but so very yummy! We all had such a good time talking and eating. Then after that was done we headed over to the shuttle. Luckily we were on time this time (last time we accidentally started it like 30 minutes late due to us being late).

This tour was a lot like the first, a lot more historical fact than actual ghost hunting. Still creepy to see all the stuff. We got better pictures this time (I have one below that shows orbs in the Fort Douglas Cemetery, but I swear they aren't in any of the other pictures).

We also got to see Ted Bundy's cellar...we couldn't go down into it though. They said you can on your own, but the tour can't allow it because they'd be liable if anyone got hurt. It seemed creepy like animals or homeless people would live in it

Overall it was creepier than the first one, but we had a lot more free range to walk around on the first one so they kind of even out. I would still recommend checking them out if you are interested in the creepy stories. I'm hoping Larry and I can do one of the paranormal investigations where you stay overnight in a haunted place...because that would be super eerie!!!

Have a great night all!

John Mulaney

I had the BEST night ever tonight! Oh my gosh seeing my favorite comedian in person was the best ever!

So I found out a couple weeks ago that John Mulaney was coming to Utah to a Wise Guys. There are pros and cons to a comedian coming there. Pros: sometimes you get a chance to meet them after their act. It's also a smaller venue so it feels more personal. Cons: there aren't assigned seats so you have to get there early if you want something decent. All his shows were sold out so I wanted to make sure we were there super early! We ended up showing up while his first show was going so we decided to stop for dinner at Wing Nutz before hand, which was pretty good and filling so it worked. I went and stood in line for the show while Larry paid for dinner (it was only a block away so not too far). We were the third ones in line and I was so excited! I knew we'd get good seats.

We ended up sitting in the second row right in front of the mic so we got REALLY good seats. The opener, Max Silvestri, came out and was hilarious! I was in tears with a couple of his stories so I knew it was a good start to the night. Then Mulaney came out and he just killed it! There was hardly a joke I didn't laugh to tears at. The best was when he found out a guy in the front didn't know about his show or really anything about him as a comedian!

I've seen a few great comedians at Wise Guys before, but this was by far my favorite time going. His jokes were perfect, seeing him in person was the best, and it was just a great night. Unfortunately he didn't meet with anyone afterwards, so that was disappointing, but seeing him that close was enough to hold me over for a bit. I hope he comes out with a new special soon, because that would be awesome! If you don't know who John Mulaney is, check out one if best jokes here. It's not my favorite, but it's a good one!

That Time We Went to Tracy Aviary

So let me just say Larry going to college has really scored us some sweet points lately haha. A few weeks ago he got an invitation for an alumni event for tonight at Tracy Aviary. I had never been, but heard it was pretty cool and it was a free event so I figured why not?

We went there straight I got home and ended up being a little late, but it worked for us.  They said on the invitation there would be light refreshments so I figured we didn't have to eat dinner before hand....yeah I don't consider packets of Oreos, nutter butters, fruit snacks, and small bags of chips light refreshments OR dinner, but it worked for us.

After eating and vising with other alumni we walked the park. They had so many cool birds...also I apparently don't know the difference between a parrot and a macaw (whoops!). They also had cool eagles to see and some ducks you can feed. The ducks also seem to watch you when you get close to the food machine thing and then just sit there so cute...you have to feed them after that! We learned that apparently bread is bad for birds because it has no nutritional value but fills them up. They say it's better to feed them corn or lettuce. Now I want to go get those things and find birds to feed haha.

Mom, Daughter, Dad, & Son

It was a pretty cool event with a lot of cool birds, but I hope they have other alumni nights or switch them up just to see what else is out there. I'm glad his school does this so we can enjoy free date nights out :)
