Lucy is TEN Months Old!

  I am TEN months old!

I like: Still eating real food over her baby food, watching her sisters run around (I'm sure she can't wait to run with them), being held (still our koala...maybe boarding on leech baby?) and seeing herself in mirrors and cameras haha.

I dislike: when we walk away from her when she wants to climb up our legs or put her down and walk away, not getting food fast enough.

I am now: still in 9/9-12 months clothes and size 3 diapers still. Still loves eating ALL the foods.

A Typical Day looks like:

We usually wake her up around 7:40 ish

7:40-10 I give her some cereal to feed herself and then a half to full jar of baby food with her probiotic. I then lay her down with a 6 oz bottle and change her bum. After she finishes that she'll crawl around and play with whatever is near her or wait for Cara to come visit her. Dad will lotion her up and put clothes on at some point after I head up to work (around 8:15)
10 -11  nap time in her crib
11-12 diaper change and the next 6 oz bottle. Around 11:30 we'll do lunch and give her some finger foods like puffs or veggie straws. We'll also give her bites of our lunches.
12 - 12:30 play time (sitting, crawling, playing, etc.)
12:30-2:30 nap time.
2:30-4:50 - next 6 oz bottle and diaper change then play time. Dad takes her downstairs around 4:15 to workout and mom will rescue her at 4:30 (when I'm done with work) and play with her for a bit. Or have her help me make dinner.
4:50-5:30 nap time.
5:30 - 6 we do dinner. She gets baby food and tastes of our food haha.
6-7 doing whatever for the night (aka free/play time)
7-7:45 we start our show for the night. At 7:05 she gets her last 6 oz bottle of the night and just relax at this point. If it's bath night (Sunday and Thursday for her), that starts at 7:30 ish
7:45 get ready for bed. We change her diaper, put cream (lotion/vaseline/etc.) on her dry spots, put on pajamas, take her upstairs, read a book, lay her down and give her the binky.

This Month: Lucy is even more silly. She is much more happy and playful. She still loves to be held, but she is exploring more on her own as the days go on.

We celebrated her first St. Patrick's Day and Easter and she had so much fun watching my sisters celebrate and get ready. Speaking of watching, she LOOVES observing and watching things. I feel like it's her way to figure things out for when she's big enough to do them (like watching her sisters run around in anticipation for when she can run around. Or looking around the house so she knows where certain rooms are for navigating to later).

She's starting to walk more with our fingers and is adjusting well if I hold her and move around. She seems to be most content if I do things upstairs and have to put her down for a minute (maybe because it's new?).

She got a new tooth, her 3rd, but it's an upper tooth to the side of her front teeth. Still no front teeth on the top, just bottom, so she looks a little like goofy, but a cute version haha.

It's funny watching her eat as she HATES seeing us eat our food without her. She needs to be being fed OR have big bites of our food to feed herself. She's also still got a tiny bit of stranger danger, but I think she's starting to warm up to people. I can't tell if she's this way because of being inside a bunch due to COVID or that's just her personality type or a little of both. But both girls had that stranger danger phase so I assume it'll pass.

Either way, she's such a cutie little girl and I'm loving seeing her come out of her shell more. I can't wait to celebrate her first birthday...I've got some fun thoughts on what we're going to do and it'll be a great one.

Update on last month's goals:
  • Work on getting down from pulling up: She's a pro at this. We practiced one morning on one day and she figured it out so quickly. Now she has no problems getting up and down.

  • Work on walking more: she's great at walking with our hands. She doesn't miss a step. I thought she'd take longer to get to this point, but she surprises me all the time with how quickly she catches up.

  • More holidays (St. Patrick's Day and Easter): We had a GREAT month of holidays and I'm excited to make these even more fun in the future!

  • Get outdoors more: it's finally starting to warm up now and then around here. We still have cold days, but when it's warm we definitely get outside and it's been SO nice! Lucy didn't love the grass at first, but then we'd put her on the grass with us and then next to us and now she's getting used to being on it by herself.

Goals for next month:
  • Work on walking or standing on her own (she's already starting this on her own so I think she's ready to practice more)

  • Get outside more and more

  • Celebrate my first mother's day with her

  • More foods to try

  • Work on using utensils

The Best Easter

Easter this year was the greatest Easter I've lived through so far! It was a busy weekend, I feel like it kind of snuck up on us. Luckily I bought quite a few gifts for Valentine's Day that ended up being more than I needed so I saved quite a bit for Easter, which was such a safety net.

We spent Saturday making carrot cake for dessert, boiling eggs for coloring, making deviled eggs, coloring eggs, and running around at the store to get last minute things to add to the baskets.

This morning we woke up and I told the girls the eggs were missing. Cara JUMPED out of bed so excited to find the eggs saying "we have to find the eggs because they disappeared!" Gwen was still trying to wake up so we had to slow Cara down a bit, but once we got downstairs the girls got into the egg hunting action.

We made breakfast and then after getting our groceries for the week and starting laundry we had lunch and they got to have one of the candy's from their baskets. When they took their nap Larry and I hid the plastic, candy filled eggs for their second hunt (we weren't sure the weather would hold up if we left them out overnight) so when they woke up they were so excited to go outside again.

After that we played outside and let them play with their bubble guns, run around, and jump on the trampoline. The weather was SO good it was so nice being outside. We did a delicious dinner of ham, corn on the cob, olives, mashed potatoes and gravy, cut up mango, and rolls. It turned out SO great and we were having so fun.

After dinner Cara was asking to go play out front, which means we need to sit with them (since there's no fence), so while they drew with their sidewalk chalk we just enjoyed the sunshine and shade. Time came around for our nightly show, but the girls really didn't want to go in so I told Larry to take Lucy in while I stayed outside (I sure wasn't going to force our girls to stare at a screen if they wanted to be outside). They ended up playing the cutest games where they'd run to the end of our yard and then rush back yelling "mommy, mommy" and giving me a huge hug. Gwen would say I saved her from the cars (Cara kept telling her she had to stay out of the road or she'd get squished by a car and get ouchies). At one point Cara put a piece from a bush in her mouth and said "Look! I'm a howdy partner!" and then she decided she was king and I was a princess. She'd run from the end of the yard to me, give me a hug, and say I was the prettiest princess and kiss my cheek. They'd also yell out that they loved me and I melted and would've given them anything they asked for at that point haha.

They finally had to come in for bath night, which they weren't happy to come in, but liked having a bath so it worked out. We cleaned everything up and just talked about how great of an Easter weekend it was. I'm SO glad we're able to celebrate how I'd always wanted. This was exactly how I envisioned the holidays when we started having kids and it's just as great as I imagined...if not greater.
