The Best Easter

Easter this year was the greatest Easter I've lived through so far! It was a busy weekend, I feel like it kind of snuck up on us. Luckily I bought quite a few gifts for Valentine's Day that ended up being more than I needed so I saved quite a bit for Easter, which was such a safety net.

We spent Saturday making carrot cake for dessert, boiling eggs for coloring, making deviled eggs, coloring eggs, and running around at the store to get last minute things to add to the baskets.

This morning we woke up and I told the girls the eggs were missing. Cara JUMPED out of bed so excited to find the eggs saying "we have to find the eggs because they disappeared!" Gwen was still trying to wake up so we had to slow Cara down a bit, but once we got downstairs the girls got into the egg hunting action.

We made breakfast and then after getting our groceries for the week and starting laundry we had lunch and they got to have one of the candy's from their baskets. When they took their nap Larry and I hid the plastic, candy filled eggs for their second hunt (we weren't sure the weather would hold up if we left them out overnight) so when they woke up they were so excited to go outside again.

After that we played outside and let them play with their bubble guns, run around, and jump on the trampoline. The weather was SO good it was so nice being outside. We did a delicious dinner of ham, corn on the cob, olives, mashed potatoes and gravy, cut up mango, and rolls. It turned out SO great and we were having so fun.

After dinner Cara was asking to go play out front, which means we need to sit with them (since there's no fence), so while they drew with their sidewalk chalk we just enjoyed the sunshine and shade. Time came around for our nightly show, but the girls really didn't want to go in so I told Larry to take Lucy in while I stayed outside (I sure wasn't going to force our girls to stare at a screen if they wanted to be outside). They ended up playing the cutest games where they'd run to the end of our yard and then rush back yelling "mommy, mommy" and giving me a huge hug. Gwen would say I saved her from the cars (Cara kept telling her she had to stay out of the road or she'd get squished by a car and get ouchies). At one point Cara put a piece from a bush in her mouth and said "Look! I'm a howdy partner!" and then she decided she was king and I was a princess. She'd run from the end of the yard to me, give me a hug, and say I was the prettiest princess and kiss my cheek. They'd also yell out that they loved me and I melted and would've given them anything they asked for at that point haha.

They finally had to come in for bath night, which they weren't happy to come in, but liked having a bath so it worked out. We cleaned everything up and just talked about how great of an Easter weekend it was. I'm SO glad we're able to celebrate how I'd always wanted. This was exactly how I envisioned the holidays when we started having kids and it's just as great as I imagined...if not greater.
