May Goals: Half check

Oh boy did I not do so well this month! I wish I could say I checked off my goals for the month, but I didn't really. The biggest part of that was because my biggest focus was visiting Mom! I really wanted to make that my main goal, but I didn't want to put it on here, so technically I accomplished what I wanted, but not what I said I would get done.

As far as workouts, I skipped/failed ten days, which out of 31 isn't so bad, but I'm really being lenient here. I am counting all the walking we did while we were gone (because we walked A LOT, to the point that my feet hurt at the end of each day and I played on the workout equipment at the park too!) so while that may not really count, I am saying it does. Also, since we've been back I haven't done any running or anything big, just abs, butts, and legs. It doesn't feel like I accomplished a lot and I have some serious making up to do next month.

Google Images, as always
I did absolutely NONE of the little craft projects or the fire kits either, not exactly sure why, but they are just going to be moving down to the next month's goals until I can get them done. I did get the house pretty cleaned before we left, which is new for me. I usually tidy or only clean halfway before I give up, so to do the whole house was quite an accomplishment. Unfortunately once we got back the mess just showed right back up so I'm back to cleaning it all up again, but that's what I'm dedicating this weekend to.

So, while I didn't do what I said I would I did do what I wanted this month, which is why I'm giving May a half check; it's not a total lie. Here's to a better June to wrap up the first half of the year in a better, healthier way!

Middle of May Update

Oh hello there! I feel like I almost forgot I had a blog there...I would love to say I've been so busy and been having fun and so now I have a long post to boast about all the stuff we've been doing, but it's not anything like that. I've gotten so wrapped up in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, it's taken over any and all free time I had this last week! I forgot how much I LOVE reading romance books. I mean it took me 2 years to read the Sword of Truth series, and don't get me wrong, they are AMAZING, but they were different than what I'm used to reading. I've already read the first two Grey books since Sunday.

Other than getting warped into make-believe I have been trying to maintain my workout goals...unfortunately I've missed 5 days so far this month (not including my Friday "make up/rest" days)...it's been bad and I wish I had good reasons. It's just hard for me to be so motivated after working all day. This week has been rough because I've had to work a little more since I had to leave early on Friday (I try not to use my PTO, I want to save as much as I can to go towards NY next year, so I have to make up the hours other days in the week). This weekend probably won't be a good workout weekend since I have so much to get done. I want to get the house spotless, I have a friend's baby shower later today, and then we have grocery shopping. Hopefully after all that I can get back into a good routine.

Google Images speak the truth

Other than all that, we had to take Larry back into the dermatologist to get more of those spots removed, apparently the doctor didn't get the whole thing and they tested abnormal so they had to get more of the roots/borders to be safe. I watched her take them off the first time and was okay so I guess she figured I'd want to watch this time...it was the most disgusting thing I've seen and I don't think I'll be watching that anymore...blech! We took my brother out to Nicklecade for his birthday last weekend, I'm pretty sure he loved every moment of it.

Our Nicklecade loot

We tried a new food place while we were out and about, the Tin Roof Grill I believe it's called. It had pretty good food, but it was a weird place (you walk in and they just tell you to sit wherever and then they hand you the menu) and was a bit pricey to ever go back. They had that guy from the Food Network's (I believe his show is called Diners, Dives, and Drive Thru's...or something like that) little stamp that he'd been there on the wall, so that was cool, but I don't think it was really a need to try place or anything.

Other than that it's been work and school, as usual. Oh and our cats have learned they really need to be the tallest things in the room and they've figured out just how to do that:
I was in the middle of my shower and
Spotted her like that and had to get a
Picture of it once I was done haha

They are silly! That's been about it, this post sure ended up longer than I expected...sorry about that. Have a great May everyone! Hope you're enjoying the warm weather (if you have it right now). Until next time...

Weekend at Boondocks, and then some (Number 10)

Hey all! I just had to post about this awesome weekend we just had. My brother gets a little antsy being stuck in a house on the weekends, he's used to having something to do all the time, so he asked if we'd get him out of the house for a few hours this past weekend. I checked and saw the weather was supposed to be really warm so I figured we could try out Boondocks (mostly it was Larry's suggestion though). We've never been before and let me tell you: it was a blast!

They had so many different things to do there! We got the unlimited pass to do everything as much as you want and it gives you 20 arcade tokens, it lasted us about 6 hours (but I'm sure we could've made it go much longer!). We ended up playing mini golf twice, we did two different 4-D theater "rides", and got a half an hour at the batting cages. Unfortunately I stood a little too close to the home plate and got a ball right into my hand! That was enough to make me stand out a few pitches and just let Larry and Andy take the rest (don't worry, I went back later because I'd never done a batting cage and that was the biggest reason I wanted to go). Andy decided not to do the Go-Karts or the Air Flight Simulator thing, which was too bad because they were a lot of fun, but I think he had a good time still. We killed it in laser tag, I think our score was 3X the score of the opposite team. Normally I don't like to do laser tag because I get TOO into the game and freak out, almost hyperventilating, but I really enjoyed this one. Andy and Larry also got to have a blast from the past moment playing old games they used to love. For Andy it's Guitar Hero, for Larry Dance Dance Revolution.

Before Boondocks we went to the new Zupas by Thanksgiving Point because they were giving away free desserts (YUM!) and then after Boondocks we went to Baskin Robbins to get some yummy ice cream! I just realized how many sweets we had that day...wow!

As a nice end to the awesome weekend, Sunday I reached one of my biggest goals: I FINALLY finished our Sword of Truth books! It feels so weird to be done, I mean I spent over 2 years reading those books and have the character's stories part of my, almost every, night. Then to just be done felt...almost lonely. But I'm glad I finally reached the end, I absolutely loved it. Plus, like I've mentioned many times before, I'm excited to start my other books. I decided I was going to wait a week before started my next book series: 50 Shades of Grey (I know, I know, but I just had to see what all the fuss is over!). Larry just finished the next series section of the Sword of Truth series, but the final book doesn't come out until August so I'm sure he'll be a little stir crazy until then.

So that's one check off for my goals and it's only 6 days into the month! I'm killing it this year, if I do say so myself :) Let's hope the rest of the month/year continues at this pace!

May Goals Time

So I had to change up my workout schedule. It was easier to do the way I have it set up above and I'm hoping if I can keep it this way for a few months I'll have the routine figured out and down so easily that I'll actually be pumped for it after work...we shall see.

Other goals I've set for myself/us would be to finish our Sword of Truth series, I know that's happening within the next week (if not tomorrow), then I'm excited to start on my other books that I have. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be completely caught up. I think if I can do that I'm going to re-start the Sword of Truth series again (that's IF I can get caught up by the end of the year).

I want to get those two craft projects (the kitty paw prints and the Date Night in a Jar) hopefully done this month as well. I'd like to get the paw prints done before Minnie gets fixed...just in case. The Date Night in a Jar really shouldn't take me too long, I guess I just haven't been motivated enough for it.

The last thing I'd like to do is get our "In Case of Fire" kits started. I've mentioned a bunch that I'd like to work on these kits to have at the ready in case a fire breaks out at home. Just something with things we'd want to keep/have saved, like social security cards, passports, marriage license, birth certificates, and pictures. I also thing it'd be good to pack a few outfits and an extra pair of pajamas and then whatever else we might need. I've got a few ideas on how to keep this all together or have it ready just in case, but I'd really like to get a plan in action just in case that day falls upon us. I think I'll feel much better once we have those done.

Other than that it's just the usual: have fun and make memories. Now that the weather is getting warmer I'm wanting to get out some more. The vacation bug has bitten me REALLY hard and REALLY early so now I want to take all these quick trips that we wouldn't need to take vacation days off of work for, but I doubt we'll really get to do any of them. I think I just like planning vacations haha.

Anyways, here's to a happy May, don't forget your Mother's on Mother's Day next weekend! And, as always, I hope you guys have a good time too.

Another Month Down

So I completely spaced that we had started another month of the year already! Time is just flying for me over here. So to catch up on the rest of April:

  • I only missed the 3 days of working out in the month...not too shabby, I think, considering my previous record of stopping and just giving up. Some days are harder to stay motivated, I think it's just that I miss working out before work; it was easier to just get it done and over with. My outside run has gotten better though. I was able to run the whole "long loop" around half of our neighborhood (longer than the loop I was planning on running) so I'm building up to do the whole neighborhood now.
  • I did get the bird house built that I wanted, but none of the other little projects. I'm hoping to extend those two into May, they are just small little ones, but we'll see if we get it done.
  • I'm thisclose to getting the books finished. I'm on the last one with only 20 chapters to go. It's getting so good now that I used to make sure I read two chapters a night, but now I'm doing about 7 or 8 chapters so I'm thinking I'll finish this weekend. Part of me is excited to move onto the other books I have, but another part of me wants to restart this series because it took me so long to read the first chunk of them that I forgot a lot of details. Luckily the author constantly brings up the details you need, but some of them I was just lost on.
  • We had some unplanned eventful days in April. One being my car broke down. Luckily we found a pretty awesome repair shop to get it done for not too much. It gave me an extra day off of work I hadn't planned for which made me realize I don't know what to do with myself when that happens...haha. Also, we had our doctor appointments on the 25th. Nothing serious, just eye doctor, dentist, and dermatologist to get crossed off. I passed the eye doctor, they told Larry if he felt like he needed glasses he should get them, but if he didn't then he was fine. Larry passed the dentist, I had to get a filling (now I brush my teeth in the middle of the day as well as morning and night), and then I passed the dermatologist while Larry had to get a few spots removed on his back. She said they'll call us to let us know if they came back as bad or not, but she felt that they'd be fine so we shall see (I thought they'd take other spots off his back, but they said those were fine and these two, which I had never paid any attention to, needed to be removed, so that was pretty shocking for me).
That was about all of our April. We got rooms organized, decorations hung, doctors taken care of, one craft done, and little days of fun here and there :)

Next up is May, I'll be posting those later. Happy April and May to you all!
