Cornbelly's

So since I wanted to do a corn maze this year I thought what better place to go then Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point? I've never been there before, but now that we live like 10 minutes away from there I see the signage for it everywhere! We tried going there for their pumpkin patch to get pumpkins last week, but we couldn't figure out where the pumpkin patch was (we thought it was separate from the activities area) so we ended up going to Smith's. So I decided we can't miss a corn maze if we park and walk through it right?

Well the funny part was that morning I got a text from Jena asking if we wanted to go to Cornbelly's with them, after I told her we actually planned on going already we decided to meet up and do all sorts of activities together. Man I had no idea they had so much to do there! Most of it is for kids, obviously, but it's still pretty fun. We got to see their cute little costume parade, ride a tractor, go on a hayride, play all sorts of games. There was Cornball which was kind of like volley ball, but with a big blown up corn ball and hay stacks as your "net", there was corn hole and dodgeball (which we didn't play, but it was there), we went down the big slide on burlap (with Cailyn screaming "again again!" afterwards haha), and also this basketball, football, baseball thing where you throw balls into the holes for different "scores". There was this funny big tube you could walk in and you got to get inside and roll it down this track and back, I did that and it kind of got me winded, it was fun, but I didn't realize it was a little bit of a workout (how can I get those in my home to tone up on? haha). Cailyn seemed to love the things that you can put your face in the holes for a picture and anything that she could climb in/on. Oh and we also got to see a pig race! It was pretty cute, but my pictures didn't turn out at all!

At the end of the day we got to do the corn maze, it wasn't too hard, but still fun. Little miss Cailyn was our guide and got us out within 30 minutes (if that). She had fun with it though (see her cute little pose up in the pictures? She's a crack up!). Overall it was a fun day with lots to do whether you had a kid or not and I'm really glad we got to go. As a side note: their pumpkins weren't very impressive this weekend, maybe earlier in the month they were good, but I'm glad we got ours at Smith's.

Halloween-y

Looks like someone made good on her promise to make up for last year's awful Halloween celebration/decorations huh?

side note: This was Minnie's first Halloween festivities (since we didn't
Celebrate last year) she definitely loved all the new things!

I decided I'd pick a weekend this year and Larry and I would go out together to get everything Halloween. Once we got back I decided to get into our storage shed outside and bring in things I had from the past years...turns out I had A LOT more than I realized. I was able to decorate our door/front "porch", our two shelves in the living room, our dining table, and then some. I need to get a close up of our potion bottles (but I need to "fill" them first) to see the labels and how cute they are. I think I want to stop by the dollar store and get a Halloween plate as a platter for the bottles. I got most of the decorations from Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart since they didn't re-open the Spirit Store in AF this year. Larry's in charge of buying costumes, but since Halloween is this week I'm not seeing that happen. We carved pumpkins and baked the seeds last night (totally made me want to watch Halloween!) and I'm hoping to go to a corn maze today. I also bought cute little window clings that I want to put on frames to hang like this Pinterest idea:

I just need to go get the frames and ribbon/hanging items. That one should be fairly easy to get done, but it'll probably be on the list for next year (I think I want to do seasonal things with frames and just pick a spot in the house to hang them/change them each month/season). All that's left to do now is go get candy for trick-or-treaters (my favorite part)!! I'm loving that the holidays are coming up so fast now! Better start getting my resolutions figured out haha.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Pictures

So a friend of mine reminded me I never posted pictures from our second engagement session we had before the wedding. We did a second session with our second photographer just so we'd have a variety of pictures to display at home. In honor of our recent anniversary and the fact that I never posted them here are some highlights:

I really liked how they turned out, Thanksgiving Point is a really lovely place to take pictures at. I'd like to get some pictures done each year so we can see the differences, hopefully that will happen this year.

Ten Years

I can't believe I forgot to post this already, but on Wednesday (the 15th) Larry and I celebrated 10 years together! We've officially hit double digits and it feels so weird to say that when you think how long 10 years is! While we have been together and in each other's lives for 10 years, I technically count it as 3 1/2 years since the Military (which is REALLY crazy that it's only been that long since he's been home) so I like to think we're still kind of new to things together.

Us over the last year or so
Anyways, Wednesday I had plans to take Larry out to this fancy Italian restaurant over at the Traverse Mountains Outlets (Jena and I walked by one day and they let us sample a dish and it was ah-mazing! so I told myself I was going to take Larry there one night), but once we got there it was either closed or no one was there and I feel way too weird about being the only people at a restaurant. So we walked past it and I decided a good back-up would be Texas Roadhouse (I absolutely love their rolls and Caesar salads!). Since I was craving Italian food it didn't taste as good as I remember it, but it was still pretty yummy and I enjoyed our time talking about things we're really passionate about. I will say I'm taking advantage of the time we have before kids come into our lives and that's all we talk about, I want to stay one of those couples that has other interests to talk about when we have nights out together. Before dinner Larry surprised me with some gifts when I got home. He got me a new hand-held mirror (that I've been in desperate need for to do my makeup with), a really cute "biker" jacket (I label it biker, but it's probably just a normal jacket to others), and some cute diamond stud earrings, that I've also been in desperate need of. We didn't really do anything big this month since we're planning New York next year as our celebration - I've kind of decided on big anniversaries (you know: 10, 15, 20, 30, etc.) to do big trips when we can afford them and not necessarily on the day of our anniversary. I'm hoping 20 can be Europe :)

Ten years has come by and I love Larry more each year that passes. I feel like we started so young and were so completely different when we met, but because of how young we were I don't think we were willing to just give up right away and learned to grow with each other. I absolutely hate when people mention bad times in a birthday/anniversary/happy days post so I won't say that, but we have definitely learned from each other and learned how to be together in great ways (which ones work and which ones don't). We know when to make the other person laugh or when to just leave them alone for any reason, I love that we travel so well together and that we both love adventures that come in life. I can't explain how I've known for a long time that we are perfect for each other, but I know there is absolutely no one out there that would be better for me than him and I'm so thankful we did get together so early in life.

So in conclusion: Happy Ten Years together to us! We're definitely at the top of our game right now and I can only hope it gets better from here on out :)

An Announcement of Sorts

So I got a fun announcement (that has NOTHING to do with babies): I got another promotion at work!!! I'm so excited, my new position is Custom Funding Specialist :) basically it means I do the same job but I'm handling more money and for our bigger groups. The job technically started 10/1, I was so excited I decided to take last week off to celebrate...haha just kidding. I already had the time planned off. So I ended up only being able to train for two days, then had a week off, and then came back to it today. I will say when they offered me the position I was so excited, it wasn't until we went to bed that night that it really sank in what I'd be doing. I was really nervous at first and the whole week we took off I kept thinking what if I go back and they expect me to just know it already? Luckily I've got a really awesome TL who is very patient with me. I'm still in the same department, but I'm on a different team so it's all kind of new to me. I love it though, it is a lot of spreadsheets, which makes me so happy and calms be down a bit. So that's my fun news!

We did decide to take last week off to kind of be together for our anniversary (even though that's this week, we decided to celebrate early...kind of). The thing is I took SO much time off last year and all of it was away from home that after each time I'd tell Larry how I missed the cats, so we decided this year we'd take a week off and just stay home with them. It was much different than I'm used to and is the last of my time off for the rest of the year, but it was SO relaxing! We hardly left the house, I got to stay in my pajamas a lot, and I ate a ton of junk food! Haha. We did major Netflix Marathons/movie watching and just got to hang out. It did make me miss taking a vacation since the only other one we got was going to visit my mom in May, but I still loved it. Made it hard to leave the kitties this morning, but I was glad to be back to work and see everyone again. Luckily they didn't forget about me if my new desk was any indication:

So that's been our week/month so far. Next up: Halloween decorations/shopping. I've been dying to go to the pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin to carve and make pumpkin seeds...hopefully I'll get to cross it off the list this weekend! Hope everyone is having a great October so far :)
